Today, July 28th, is the second official National Cancer Sucks Day. Argosy’s owners show their generosity year after year by donating a boat to the kids and their families of Camp Goodtimes who are diagnosed with cancer. Captain Mooselips brings non-stop energy and smiles to all of the kids’ faces as they set sail on an Argosy boat as part of their time at camp while dancing, singing and doing choreographed moves such as “Ninja!” and the famous Choogie Dance! Not to mention a new rendition of the Macarena, now called the “Mooserena.”

When the boat pulled into Pier 55 this afternoon for a short visit, Red Robin joined in on the fun by throwing hundreds of French fries from their patio to the kids packed on the bow of the boat. While most kids were successful at catching the fries in mid-flight, the seagulls loved swooping in to snag the leftover fries on the dock at the end of the day. Camp Goodtimes is very near and dear to us at Argosy and we feel very fortunate to contribute to this organization each year. Thank you to the American Cancer Society for all that you do.
The fireboat, Leschi (seen in the distance), even came out to greet the kids!

Stewie may look like an ordinary Seattle dog, but it is when he jumps in a kayak that his full character truly shines through. Thank you to his owner, Rock, who sent us these great pictures, we now know who to call if we ever need an Argosy mascot.
Stewie loves kayaking and can usually be seen sitting in a crate on the back of the boat. He even strategically placed himself in the middle of this picture (above) with Argosy’s Spirit of Seattle behind him. According to Rock, “I put the camera over my shoulder and took the picture, not knowing that my dog was even “on alert.” I had no idea it turned out so cool till I got home.” Of course, we like to think Stewie planned it that way!

Stewie truly is one photogenic little guy. Just look at his left ear perked up in every picture. How could you not think this dog was a superstar?

Argosy loves being a part of Camp Goodtimes and the American Cancer Society. Proven by the photo to the right, hundreds of kids also love being a part of this amazing organization. According to Camp Goodtimes West, “The mission of Camp Goodtimes is to provide cost-free, medically supervised program for children with cancer, on or off treatment, and a sibling ages 7-17. The philosophy of our program is summed up in the name “Goodtimes”… for our campers to have fun.”
Every year, Argosy generously donates a boat to the campers for the sole purpose of having fun. Deemed the National Cancer Sucks Day, an Argosy boat full of cancer kids and their siblings cruised into the dock at Pier 55 on Tuesday, June 29. Captain Mooselips and the Mariner Moose jumped on board to join in on the singing, dancing and French fry throwing (thank you Red Robin!) on this beautiful sunny afternoon.
There was not a kid without a smile on his or her face that day. Moments like this are what we love here at Argosy. Thank you Camp Goodtimes and the American Cancer Society for all that you do.
Rumor has it that July 28th is also National Cancer Sucks Day so if you’re down on the waterfront, don’t be surprised if you see or hear a boat full of kids singing and dancing to the YMCA! And by the way, make sure you watch your back for flying French fries…

Three weeks of Argosy’s June Happy Hour and one more week to go in the month of June. Since the debut of this fun Tuesday night social hour, we have enjoyed our famous cloudy Seattle weather, but yesterday the outside deck was bustling and the sun was out! While it was appropriate on the second official day of summer, people brought out their sunglasses, shorts and enjoyed delicious happy hour appetizers and refreshing drinks on the top deck of the Royal Argosy.
Here are a few picturesque shots from yesterday.

Do you want to join us next Tuesday for Happy Hour? Stop by Pier 55 between 3-7pm and join in the fun! The boat stays dockside so don’t worry, you won’t be stranded at sea!

Life on the Seattle waterfront quickly changed last week when hundreds of bags of crushed snow-like ice were brought in and a huge snow ramp emerged on Pier 56. Crews arrived early in the morning to set up a life size snowboarding ramp in honor of the annual Coors Light Cold Front celebration.

The Deadliest Catch crabbing boat, Wizard, made a special appearance as well as the Silver Bullet Girls and other VIP guests. Within minutes after the gates opened at 4pm, Pier 56 came to life. And to think that we would have snow on a sunny Seattle afternoon with highs near 75 degrees – unbelievable! Never a dull moment here at Argosy.
